Punk slowburn buildup with a massive payoff at the end!

9.  The Chainsmokers- Selfie

It’s the Zappa-fied youth bashing “Valley Girl“-ish satire single of the decade with an EDM kick.

8. Wild Beasts- Wanderlust

You may think quaint gentle English indie band but the whole time the lyrics are slicing you apart. It’s definitely not a flesh wound.

7. Protomartyr- Scum, Rise!

There are a thousand bands that will always mine the post punk vibe, but like the band Savages did last year only a few of these bands will do it well. Protomartyr is one of them.

6. Frankie Cosmos- Birthday Song

Gentle short and sweet lo-fi nugget.

5. Tokyo Police Club- Argentina Pts. I, II, III

Eight and half minute mini suite of sugary indie guitar rock from the mighty Tokyo Police Club.

4. Perfect Pussy- Driver

A lot of bands also ride this angular sharp edged all out noisey romps but only a few can harness the rightenergy and playing and keep it tight.

3. Future Islands- Seasons (Waiting On You)

Future Islands are enjoying well deserved attention right now with their excellent new album Singles and über-charisma and dance moves of front man Sam Herring

2. Seahaven- Silhouette (Latin Skin)

Entrancing ballad from this Torrance, CA. quartet from their great new album Reverie Lagoon: Songs For Escapism Only .

1. Mas Ysa- Why

This one will stick in you head, trust me. Also, it’s brutal and tough. We beat each other so bad.
